Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - Simplified

Anyone can learn the basics of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

What you think determines your mood,
    when you change your thinking,
    you change your feelings.

Clearly, there are thoughts that help build your life and there are thoughts that ruin it. ANTs (automatic negative thoughts) can invade your mind at any time. In order to rid yourself of these pests you must notice when they occur, identify them as false, and immediately talk back to them.

The best way to get rid of the ANTs is to write them down, identify them as erroneous, develop and infuse PETs (positive energizing thoughts). The thought/feeling record worksheet will be your guide to help you eradicate the ANTs and fill your life with PETs. ____________________________________________________________________________________________

Let's get started! Complete the program one-step at a time.

Step 1: Become familiar with the different types of ANTs that may have infested your mind. Go to the ANTs list.

Step 2: You will need to label your feelings. Become familiar with the following Unpleasant or Negative Feelings and Pleasant or Positive Feelings.

Step 3: Now that you are familiar with the different types of ANTs and have a better knowledge labelling unpleasant and pleasant feelings, you are ready to start the Thought/Feeling Record Worksheet.

Step 4: Address one ANT at a time. If you have more pests in your mind, repeat step 3, until they are all eradicated.

Step 5: Good Luck! Get does ugly pests and knock them out for good!
