One-Stop ADD/ADHD Help

Looking for an ADD/ADHD assessment, counselling or coaching?
You have come to the right place!

As an ADHD specialist, I am here to help adults and children alike who may have or have ADD/ADHD to identify, develop, manage, and celebrate their ADD/ADHD, while minimizing the negative impact of the side effects.

My goal is to enable you to:

  • experience the great benefits I found in knowing all I can about ADD/ADHD,
  • tailor-design your own self-coaching program,
  • achieve the exact results you want for the rest of your life, and
  • connect with your full "potentials" and life dreams.

  • Treating ADD/ADHD involves:

Whether for adults or children, the treatment of ADD/ADHD should be comprehensive and include a wide range of possible interventions, certainly more than medication. Assistance should also be provided over the long-term, as it generally does not go away. The treatment approach…includes:

      1. Diagnosis. Identifying the ADD/ADHD and taking into account the likelihood of coexisting problems - depression, addiction, learning disabilities, etc.

      2. Education. Learning what ADD/ADHD is and what it isn’t, as well as teaching others about it.

      3. Changes in Lifestyle. Learning health and wellness skills; proper amount of sleep (critical!), eat right, exercise (which is actually one of the best treatments for ADD/ADHD), calm your mind through relaxation, meditation or prayer, and stay connected with other people. Good health has a huge impact on the brain and ADD/ADHD.

      4. Counseling/Life Coaching. Cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral modification plans and parent counseling, psychotherapy, career counseling, individual, couple and family counselling/life coaching. Counselling/Coaching the ADHDer driving/life skills; such as focus, organization, time management, emotional management, social and brain "speed" control skills.

      5. Other Intervensions. Such as an exercise program that stimulates the cerebellum, targeted tutoring, general physical exercise, nutritional interventions and energy building supplements - multiple vitamin, NeurOmega fish oil, L-tyrosine, DL-phenylalanine, and others.

      6. Medication. Will only be included if required. When medication works, it works as safely and dramatically as eyeglasses. Medication helps about 80% of the time in the treatment of ADD/ADHD. The stimulants include medications like Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall, Vyvanse, and others.

    ADD/ADHD is...?

ADD - “attention deficit disorder" or ADHD - “attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder” is a highly misleading description of an intriguing kind of mind. Original, charismatic, energetic, often brilliant, people with ADD/ADHD have extraordinary talents and gifts embedded in their highly active but easily distracted minds. In my opinion, "ADD/ADHD is a gift with disabling side effects" - not a disorder. When it is managed properly, it can become a huge asset in one’s life. Both I and many people have the gift.

As I like to describe it, ADD/ADHD is like having a silent or loud race car with:

an overly active engine for a mind, and
      an under charged battery.

  • You try to stop, relax, unwind, slow down your mind or cruise at the average human pace, but you can't - the gear-shift is stuck in HIGH speed.

  • You try to keep your eyes focused on what people say to you,

  • You try to wrap up the final details of a project, once the challenging parts have been done,

  • You try to get things in order when you have to do a task that requires organization or

  • You try to keep your attention when you're doing boring or repetitive work, but you can't - the battery is constantly under charged.

ADHD is now recognized as being lifelong and is most commonly identified in school aged children but that carries on throughout adolescence and into adulthood for many people.

    Word as a father...

I am a proud ADHD-father of two teenage boys. One of them has ADHD. I can speak about ADHD as a therapist/coach as well as a father. Like many parents, I want to be able to educate my children and people around us about ADHD. I want to be a coach to my children and spouse, and be able to help them with all their needs, especially ADHD needs. This why I have educated myself around ADD/ADHD and I want to help you with your needs.

Prior to finding out that I have ADHD, I found myself in the grip of depression, anxiety, marital problems, social fears and low self-esteem - that made no sense to me. Many things contributed to it, that much I understood, but I seemed to be disintegrating. Many years ago I had been in therapy for "anxiety", and was prescribed Paxil. . . . .
